John Adams (DOB DEC 23, 1894 KIA Nov 22, 1918) was one of three men from Killeen Texas dying from Machine Gun wounds in World War 1 on a battlefield in France after the Armistice was signed and before the word was received by both sides. He was the son of a Killeen cotton gin operator.

The Killeen Post 223 was named J.Q. Adams on May 24, 1920. We have been helping and serving the local Veterans and their families and Active Duty personnel and their families, and the City of Killeen, Harker Heights, FT. Hood, Copperas Cove, and surrounding areas for a century.
Now we are going to celebrate the end of our first century of service.
We will also celebrate the beginning of another century of service to our Veterans and their families, Active Duty personnel and their families, and the Killeen Area Harker Heights, FT. Hood, Copperas Cove, and surrounding areas.
